As a 25+ year amateur historian of the Mormon phenomenon, I have to recommend this article. There are a few weak points (where is mention of the Doctrine & Covenants / Book of Commandments?) but all in all a good insight into Mitt's uphill struggle. I don't know if I share the author's sense that the Mormon church will somehow institute change due to the fallout due to Mitt's candidacy. In fact, with all his money, I would not count Mitt out of the nomination at all. My view is that the church as an institution has little wiggle room without knocking over a sacred pillar or two. We are all hopeful that one day there can be more open discussion, but it will not come soon. A very good read.
